Grama Panchayat

📘 A Grama Sabha consists of all persons whose names are included in the electoral roll of a village within the area of a Grama Panchayat.

👥 Grama Sabha Member

A voter of a ward in a village is a member of that Ward Grama Sabha.

🧑‍💼 Convener

Ward Members act as Conveners of Gram Sabhas. If a Convener is unable to perform duties, the Head of the Local Self Government Institution may appoint a member from a nearby ward as Convener.

👑 Chairperson

The President presides over Grama Sabha meetings. In their absence, the Vice President / Convener will preside.

📅 Convening of Meeting

The responsibility of convening meetings lies with the Convener (Ward Member).

📊 Quorum

The quorum is 10% of total voters. For adjourned meetings, a minimum of 50 members is sufficient.

⚡ Special Meeting

If at least 10% of voters demand in writing, a special meeting must be convened within 15 days.

🧭 Coordinator

An officer appointed by the Local Self Government Institution acts as Coordinator and assists the Convener in all activities.

❓ Questions & Suggestions

Members have the right to submit questions and suggestions in writing before or during the meeting.

📝 Resolutions

Resolutions on matters within the authority of the Gram Sabha / Ward Sabha can be passed by majority.
